If you are looking for amazing sci-fi books that are out of this world (pun intended) look no further.
1. The Left Hand of Darkness – Ursula K. Le Guin
Ursula K. Le Guin is rightfully the master of science fiction.
She writes compelling & thought-provoking sci-fi novels that together create the Hainish Cycle.
The Left Hand of Darkness is Hugo award-winning novel that follows a lone human emissary to Winter, an alien world whose inhabitants can choose – and change – their gender.

2. The Dispossessed – Ursula K. Le Guin
One of my all-time favorite books and another masterpiece by Ursula K. Le Guin is The Dispossessed.
Set in the same universe as The Left Hand of Darkness this book follows Shevek, a brilliant physicist. He will seek answers, question the unquestionable, and attempt to tear down the walls of hatred that have isolated his planet of anarchists from the rest of the civilized universe.

3. A Memory Called Empire – Arkady Martine
A debut novel that impressed me not only with its beautiful cover but also with an amazing story.
Ambassador Mahit Dzmare arrives in the center of the multi-system Teixcalaanli Empire only to discover that her predecessor, the previous ambassador from their small but fiercely independent mining Station, has died.
Colourful, rich and poetic writing style will leave you wanting more and luckily the next book in series is coming out in 2021.

4. Ancillary Justice – Ann Leckie
Another brilliant debut novel and another Hugo award winner is Ancillary Justice.
On a remote, icy planet, the soldier known as Breq is drawing closer to completing her quest. Once, she was the Justice of Toren – a colossal starship with artificial intelligence now she’s seeking vengeance.

5. Luna: New Moon – Ian McDonald
My favorite book of 2017, Game of Thrones set on Moon.
The Moon wants to kill you. Maybe it will kill you when the per diem for your allotted food, water, and air runs out, just before you hit pay dirt. Maybe it will kill you when you are trapped between the reigning corporations-the Five Dragons-in a foolish gamble against a futuristic feudal society.

There are many more amazing science fiction books that are happening outside of Earth, these are just some of my current favorites. M.
