‘That girl’ aesthetic has taken Tik Tok and Instagram reels by storm. It’s a young, slim, girl who wakes up before sunrise, eats healthy, and hustles all day. But ‘that girl’ aesthetic is nothing new. We have seen it in veganism trends, the spirituality movement, and diet culture. It was always there, on Youtube, Pinterest, and Instagram in some way or form.
I like looking at ‘that girl’ aesthetic as an inspiring and motivating thing, not an ideal. For me, it’s about finding the motivation to exercise, maybe finding an appetizing recipe, and romanticizing mundane tasks.
‘That girl’ aesthetic can be healthy and self-loving if you see it as inspiration for yourself.

We all love browsing on social media as soon as we wake up, checking on notifications and messages, scrolling through posts and short videos. I like watching morning routine videos in the morning because it gives me a boost to get out of bed and start my day.
Morning affirmations
This has been a life-changing thing for me. Every morning while applying my skin cream I say affirmations.
I am beautiful.
I am smart.
I am worthy.
I am brave.
This is a simple but amazing thing to add to your everyday routine. Positive affirmations change our mindset and help us feel better. I strongly recommend using an app that is going to send you affirmations throughout the day. I use Mantra and I am always hyped up whenever I get my affirmation notifications.
Start loving your body as it is
If the last two years taught me anything it is how important our health is, both physical and mental.
Every day I eat what I love, I am no longer fasting or starving myself, only to lose a couple of kilograms that will come back later. I feel gratitude for the food I eat and for the people that make it. I no longer eat healthy because I should but because I want to.
In the last six months, I lost so much weight thanks to self-love. As soon as I stopped hating my body and started practicing self-love for my body and mind I started losing weight. Visualize your desired figure and hold that image in your mind for a couple of minutes every day.
Dress up nicely even if you are not going anywhere
At the height of my depression, I wasn’t leaving my room. I was sleeping 12 to 15 hours, eating little food, and rarely showering. My therapist saw this as a warning sign, and she urged me to change even one small thing. She asked me to start dressing up and putting on makeup even if I am just going to sit in my room. This coupled with other self-love practices that she insisted I do every day helped me get out of my dark place. Now, I dress up every day. Even if it means getting out of my pajamas into loungewear.
Start dreaming
This one was hard for me. Battling my depression and anxiety left a deep mark on my soul. I was an empty, hollow husk of a human being. Things that used to excite me no longer did. I didn’t have any dream or goal in my life and that depressed me even more. Again my therapist urged me to find even one little thing to excite me, I choose fashion. I don’t even why I choose it but soon I was lured into the magnificent world of fashion, make-up, and jewelry.
Visualization is key
I cannot stress enough how important visualization is. It’s the most important tool we have for achieving our dreams and goals.
