Bye, bye February!
You blink, and February is gone. I can’t believe how fast this month went. While January seemed like an extremely long month, February ended very quickly.
For me, the month was dedicated to cleaning the house during the day and reading in the evening, with a few bookshop visits sprinkled throughout the month.

Harry Potter books
I read 5 books, 3 Harry Potter books, 1 science fiction book, and 1 YA fantasy in February.
What marked these two first months of reading are definitely Harry Potter books. I re-read them for the third time as the whole series, and I have to say that they still hold on to their own. It’s been 13 years since the last book was published and 23 years after the first book came out, and still Harry Potter books garn a lot of love among old and new fans.
The science fiction book I finished was History of Bees by Maja Lunde, which I liked greatly. I loved three different points of view and different time periods. I also like bees, so this book made me wanna be a beekeeper.
YA fantasy book was Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller, a very anticipated book for 2020. I read it in one sitting, and it was interesting but very underwhelming. It didn’t live up to the hype it has.

House decluttering
The unusually warm February made it possible to do a lot of decluttering. I started with my apartment and ended with my parents’ house. I decluttered many clothes, houseware, linens, old cups and glasses, plates, pans, etc. Most of the things were worn out but still usable, so I donated these things. Chipped and broken things I either recycled or throw away.
My parent’s house was definitely more cluttered than my apartment because, unlike me, they have where to store their mess. There was more throwing away and recycling than donating.
We managed to declutter the entire house in three days, and once we all were done with decluttering and cleaning, we all had a nice, long lunch followed by a delicious cake.
After decluttering and cleaning, we went and bought a few new things for the house. At my parents’ house, few furniture pieces were due for replacement, so we replaced them and re-arranged the house accordingly. All carpets are taken to cleaners, curtains are washed, and all windows are now sparkling clean. One big thing we did in the house was to update my brother’s room. Previously it wasn’t suited for him, so we re-did his room with a new layout and some new furniture pieces. Now it’s the most beautiful room in the house. 🙂
I hope you all had a lovely February and that March is coming along nicely for you. Stay home and stay safe.
